強身防病潤肺湯
上呼吸道感染泛指由鼻去到咽喉位置的急性感染,大部分由病毒引起,中醫理論認為肺氣弱的人容易感染上呼吸道疾病,因為肺的位置相對於其他臟腑高,是身體抵禦外邪的第一道防線,而且「肺主一身之氣」,養好肺功能有助提升體內正氣,當身體有足夠正氣,邪氣就不能乘虛而入,所以宜適量飲用有強肺、潤肺功效的湯水。

食材小貼士:
海底椰性寒,具化痰止咳、滋陰潤肺、除煩清熱的功效,是源自非洲塞爾群島的一種特有棕櫚,以中醫入藥來說,非洲海底椰是為正宗。

粟米蓮藕海底椰淮山湯
功效:補脾養胃,有益肺氣,強身防病。
材料:粟米2根、蓮藕2-3節、鮮淮山1根、海底椰20克、南杏15克、腰果40克、無花果2枚
做法:
1. 所有材料洗淨,粟米去衣留鬚切段;蓮藕去皮切塊;鮮淮山去皮切段備用。
2. 鍋中加入2500毫升水,放入全部材料,武火煮至水滾,調文火煮1.5小時,最後下鹽調味即可。

Soup to strengthen up and moisten the lungs
Upper respiratory tract infection generally refers to infection that happens along the nose and the throat, and it is normally caused by viruses.

According to Chinese medicine theories, individuals with weak lungs qi are more susceptible to upper respiratory diseases. This is because the lungs are located higher than other internal organs, and they provide the first line of defense against all pathogenic factors.

Since the lungs govern the qi of the body, it is important for us to take good care of the lungs to improve the vital qi in our body. With sufficient vital qi, we can prevent the pathogenic qi from invading the body. Hence, we should drink an appropriate amount of soup that can strengthen and moisten the lungs.

Tips on ingredient:
Sea coconut – cold in nature, can relieve phlegm and cough, nourish yin and moisten lungs, alleviate irritability and clear heat. It originals from an African palm tree and is the largest nut in the world. Chinese medicine believes African sea coconut is the most proper one and it is sliced and dried.

Corn and Lotus Root Soup with Sea Coconut Chinese Yam
Effects: Replenish the spleen and nourish stomach, strengthen lung qi, and improve overall health and immunity.
Ingredients: 2 corns, 2-3 segments of lotus root, 1 fresh Chinese yam, 20g sea coconut, 15g sweet almonds, 40g cashew, 2 dried fig
Preparation:
1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Remove husks from corn and cut into pieces. Peel and cut the lotus root and Chinese yam into pieces.
2. Combine all ingredients with 2500ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1.5 hours. Add salt to taste.
