Three tips to get rid of puffy eyes
Sometimes when we wake up with puffy eyes, our double eyelids would turn single! It could be because we drank too much water or alcohol the night before, did not get enough sleep, or cried before bed. To relieve puffy eyes, here are three tips for you:
Tips 1: Cornsilk tea
Cornsilk can clears heat, dispels dampness and promotes diuresis. Suitable for those who have edema due to too much dampness in the body.
Ingredients: 10g of cornsilk
Preparation: place cornsilk into tea bag, steep with hot water for 10 minutes or until aroma develops.
Tips 2: Cold metal spoon
Freeze the metal spoon in the refrigerator for more than 5 minutes. Put it on the eye socket, the cold helps to reduce swelling.
Tips 3: Massage Jing Ming Point
Effects: Improves blood circulation near the eye
Location: In the depression slightly above the inner canthus.
Method: Use your middle finger or index finger to gently apply pressure on skin in circular motion for 3 to 5 seconds and release. Repeat for 5-10 times.
If you still cannot get rid of the puffy eyes after a day, you should start paying attention to your health. According to Chinese Medicine theory, those with asthenic spleen and dampness in body are most prone to swollen eyes as the weakened spleen affects the body’s ability to dispel fluids. With all the fluids stagnated in the body, it will be most visible where your skin is thinnest which is your eyes and face. To prevent puffy eyes, have your meals at regular times. Eat less cold/raw foods. Drink a cup daily can nourish the spleen and stomach.
