Improve the phlegm-dampness body constitution

CheckCheckCin: The return of spring also means the climate would become more humid. From the perspective of Chinese Medicine, dampness is one of the main causes of sickness. The weather during spring is humid, and Hong Kong people enjoy air conditioned space. This can easily cause external dampness. Moreover, poor dietary habits and the consumption of raw, cold, greasy, sweet and heavily seasoned food can hurt the spleen and the stomach, causing dampness to accumulate in the body. This can lead to the formation of the phlegm-dampness body constitution.

Many sicknesses and body discomfort that urbanites experience, such as head heaviness, muscle soreness, water retention, excessive phlegm production, loss of appetite, dizziness, headache, and fatigue are results of the phlegm-dampness condition. In order to live a healthier life, we need to get rid of phlegm-dampness.

Firstly, start with a lighter diet, cut down on raw, cold, fried, and sweet foods to prevent phlegm-dampness from accumulating in our body. Secondly, consume an appropriate amount of ingredients that can help to strengthen the spleen and dispel dampness from the body, such as coix seed, Chinese yam, black-eyed pea, and poria. Last but not least, repeat the first two steps and drink a glass of rice water every day to strengthen the spleen and dispel dampness.
