暑熱也會致失眠
記者朋友:「最近在户外完成工作後,馬上回到冷氣房避暑。之後身體輕微發熱卻怕冷,更流鼻涕、咳嗽、四肢酸痛乏力、頭暈頭痛,半夜醒來好幾次。怎樣才可以快點康復?」
CheckCheckCin:你這種情況是暑熱感冒症狀,烈日下工作後立即到室內歎冷氣是很容易中招的。中醫認為「風為百病之長」,冷氣緊閉排汗毛孔,令體內暑熱無法透過出汗揮發,也容易滯留濕氣;若冷氣風口朝著自己吹,更會令經絡閉塞,引發身體痛症。受暑熱而感冒的人,睡眠也會受影響。建議多飲溫水為身體補濕、戒吃生冷飲食,也可適量進食清熱祛濕食材,晚上睡覺時穿薄而透氣的長袖衣褲,有助排汗,也要注意冷氣溫度不宜過低。推介一款適合烈日下工作時飲用的茶飲,為身體消暑解渴-

粟米鬚冬瓜水
功效:清熱消暑,適合夏季、肥胖、水腫、小便不暢、疲勞等症狀
材料:新鮮粟米鬚80克、冬瓜300克(約半斤)、蜜棗2枚
做法:材料洗淨,冬瓜連皮連籽切塊備用。鍋內加入約1500毫升水,煮約30分鐘。
注意:此茶偏涼,孕婦、婦女來經期間以及脾胃虛寒容易胃痛腹瀉、尿頻、夜尿多者不宜服。

Summer heat can cause insomnia

CheckCheckCin: You have symptoms of heat flu, which you are most vulnerable too when you work under the heat and head to air-conditioned room soon after. Chinese medicine believes ‘wind is the chief pathogen of all diseases’. Cold air from the air conditioner will shrink the pores and you cannot sweat out the summer heat, which can lead to water stagnation. If you are close to the air conditioner vent, it will occlude your meridians and cause body pain. People who are have summer heat colds will also suffer from insomnia. It is recommended to drink more warm water to moisten the body, avoid cold/raw food and appropriately consume ingredients that can clear heat and dispel dampness. Wear thin and breathable long-sleeved materials when you sleep to air perspiration, but ensure the temperature is not too low. The below drink can clear heat and relieve thirst. It is suitable for those who work in the hot sun.

Winter melon water with corn silk
Effects: Suitable to drink in the summer to clear heat. Relieve symptoms such as obesity, bloating, difficulty urinating and fatigue.
Ingredients: 80g fresh corn silk, 300g winter melon, 2 candied dates
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Peel and core winter melon and cut into pieces. Combine all ingredients with 1500ml of water and boil for 30 minutes.
Note it is cold in nature. Not suitable for pregnant or menstruating women. Those with cold stomach that have stomach issues or those with frequent urination or nocturia should drink less.
