It’s becoming hotter, and Mr Body Odor has quietly returned, so how does Chinese medicine view body odor? People with strong bodily odor usually have damp heat body types and experience accompanying symptoms such as difficulty passing stool (feeling you are never quite completely done) and bad breath, and ladies’ will have yellowish and smelly vaginal discharge. Most heat-related body types will result in strong body odor, but it’s different from the damp-related odors. Dampness will lead to irritability, dry mouth, bitterness in taste, dry eyes, scanty and yellowish urine, and sores on tongue, in armpits and lower body.
Avoid: milk tea, coffee, mangoes, pineapples, lychees, longan, curry, hot pot, beer, barbequed/grilled/fried foods.
