CheckCheckCin:不少人認為睡前喝牛奶有助入睡,從中醫角度來看,牛奶有補虛、生津潤腸、有益肺胃的功效,但性質較滋膩,不適合脾胃虛弱人士,否則容易出現消化不良、多胃氣、腹部脹滿等症狀,所以要視乎個人體質飲用。我會建議飲用有寧心安神功效的茶療,例如用上茯神、炒酸棗仁、百合等藥材,有助紓緩睡不安寧的狀況。平日注意少喝濃茶、咖啡等刺激性飲品,少吃辛辣、重口味食物,對睡眠都有幫助。

遠志麥冬百合茶
功效:寧心安神,紓緩睡不安寧、多夢、健忘等症狀。
材料:遠志6克、麥冬10克、百合12克、葡萄乾10克
做法:材料洗淨放保溫瓶,以熱開水沖洗一遍,注入熱開水焗10分鐘即可。此茶可反覆沖泡至味淡,建議一星期飲用2-3天,飲用兩星期為一個療程。
備註:濕熱體質人士及感冒未清者不宜飲用。

A cup of warm milk before sleep?
“Recently, my mind still seems to be too active when I’m trying to sleep. Will drinking a cup of warm milk help me sleep better?”

CheckCheckCin: Many people think drinking milk would help us sleep better. From Chinese medicine perspective, milk replenishes deficiencies of the body, promotes salivation and moistens the intestines, and is good for the health of the lungs and stomach.

However, it is quite heavy and has a high satiety effect, not suitable for individuals with a weak spleen and stomach, as it might cause indigestion, stomach gas, and bloating. We would recommend herbal tea that has a calming effect, for instance, made with poria, spine date seed and lily bulb. In order to enhance our sleep, avoid drinking concentrated tea and coffee, and avoid eating spicy and savory food.

Radix ophiopogonis tea with polygala and lily bulb
Effects: Nourishes heart and calms the mind. Relieves symptoms such as poor sleep quality, dreamful sleep and forgetfulness.
Ingredients: 6g polygala, 10g radix ophiopogonis, 12g lily bulb and 10g raisins

Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly and place into thermos, rinse with hot water once. Then add in hot water again and steep for 10 minutes. This tea can be re-brewed until flavor weakens. For best results, drink consecutively for 2-3 days. Two weeks for a treatment.
