Post-sunburn acne breakouts?
“Earlier on, I did all the necessary sun protection measures before attending a cruise party. Even though I am not tanned, I developed pimples. What am I supposed to do?”
CheckCheckCin: The hot summer weather, coupled with outdoor activities, will cause our body to experience summer heat. According to Chinese medicine theories, the accumulation of heat in the body will lead to the development of acne. This is especially true for individuals with the damp-heat body condition. For these individuals, sebum secretion is already an existing problem; continuous exposure to the sun will further aggravate the situation, and even lead to swelling, pain, pustule, acne with purple scars.
It is beneficial to consume food that can dissipate body heat, such as winter melon, towel gourd, and chrysanthemum. Avoid eating spicy and overly savoury food, take part in aerobic workouts to aid perspiration and dispel toxins from the body.
If you have used sunscreen with high adsorption and did not do proper cleaning after outdoor activities, it will clog the pores and increase the chances for acne to develop. So make sure you use makeup removers to clean your face thoroughly.
