Major cold is the last solar term of the year and also signifies the ending of winter. You can gentle replenish your body with diet but it is also important to strengthen the spleen and stomach. Have a cup of rice water daily and add in codonopsis root to replenish qi. Aside from dressing warm, try taking a bath before bed time to promote blood circulation to warm up the body. Hot pot is popular during winter, having it in moderation can also warm the body but be sure not to eat it everyday as that can lead to excessive heat!

– press on the gushing spring (yong quan) acupoint to nourish kidneys
– hot natured fruits such as cherry, peach, pomegranate, and rambutan can increase yang qi
