Remember when you were young and had to take an exam, you would get a stomach ache and even have diarrhea. Your mom always think you ate something wrong. When you’ve grown up, whenever you have an important exam or meeting, the nerves give you stomach ache and diarrheat again. Sometimes you lose all your energy from all the diarrahea too. This is all due to stress and the anxiety affects your liver. When your liver qi is stagnated, it leads to more burden on your spleen. The fluid transportation is out of control and this is why you get stomach aches and diarrhea! Belly soothing vegetarian soup
Hairy Fig Root Soup with chayote and carrot
Ingredients: 2 chayote, 1 carrot, 1 fresh Chinese yam, 80g hairy fig root, 40g coix seeds, 30g hyacinth bean, 2 candied dates
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Peel chayote, carrot and Chinese yam and cut into pieces. Combine all ingredients with 2000ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1 hour. Add salt to taste.
Effects: strengthen the spleen to relieve diarrhea. Alleviate frequent occrence of stomach pain and diarrhea. Note this is not suitable for those recovering from a cold/flu.
