胃氣多自然噯氣和放屁機會都多,兩種情況都叫人很尷尬,醫師說成因是壓力大而非腸胃問題?是的,從中醫角度來看,噯氣與肝鬱氣滯有關,壓力大會導致肝氣犯胃,引致胃脹、噯氣、打嗝甚至胃痛,適當減壓及疏肝理氣,有助紓緩胃脹問題,可以適量食用佛手、五指毛桃、蓮子、百合、陳皮等有疏肝理氣功效的食材,同時少吃奶類或豆品類等容易產氣的食物,少吃生冷、油膩及難消化食物。亦可以按壓內關穴和中脘穴,以大拇指指腹輪流按壓各穴位約30秒,能緩解胃脹症狀。

青皮佛手茶
功效:疏肝理氣,紓緩壓力大引致的胃脹不適等症狀。
材料:青皮6克、佛手9克
做法:將材料洗淨,加入800毫升水,武火煮滾後轉文火煮30分鐘即可。此茶可反覆沖泡至味淡,連續喝兩天為一個療程。

內關穴
位置:前臂掌側,手腕橫紋上2寸(約3隻手指位)
功效:寧神安心、理氣止痛,有益心臟。

中脘穴
位置:位於腹部,胸骨下端與肚臍連接線中點,肚臍直上約6隻手指位。
功效:和胃健脾,紓緩胃痛、胃脹、腹痛、消化不良等症狀。
注意:不宜於飯後兩小時內進行。

When there is an excess of qi in the stomach, it can lead to increased belching and flatulence—both of which can be rather embarrassing, but could the cause be linked to stress rather than just digestive issues?

Absolutely. From a traditional Chinese medicine perspective, excessive belching is associated with liver stagnation and disrupted the flow of the qi. Intense stress can lead to the invasion of liver qi into the stomach, resulting in symptoms like bloating, belching, hiccups, and even stomach pain.

Managing stress effectively and soothing the qi in the liver can offer relief from stomach bloating. Incorporating foods like Buddha’s hand citron, hairy fig root, lotus seeds, lily bulbs, and dried citrus peel into our diet can help balance liver qi and alleviate these symptoms.

Meanwhile, reduce the consumption of gas-inducing foods such as dairy and beans, as well as raw, greasy, and hard-to-digest foods. Applying pressure to the Inner Pass (Nei Guan) point and Central Venter (Zhong Wan) point can also be beneficial. Use the thumb to gently press each acupoint for about 30 seconds alternately to help alleviate stomach discomfort.

Dried unripe orange peel tea with fingered citron
Effects: Relieves stress and regulate qi, relieves symptoms such as stomach discomfort due to phlegm and dampness.
Ingredients: 6g dried unripe orange peel, 9g fingered citron
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Combine all ingredients with 800ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Tea can be re-brew until its flavour weakens. For best results, drink for 2 consecutive days as a course of treatment.

Inner Pass (Nei Guan) Point
Location: Located three finger breadths below the wrist on the inner forearm in between the two tendons
Effects: Calms the mind, nourishes qi and relieves pain, good for the heart.

Central Venter (Zhong Wan) Point
Location: located in the abdomen, below the ribs in the midpoint between rib cage and belly button, about 6 finger widths above the belly button
Effects: nourishes stomach and strengthens the spleen, alleviates symptoms of abdominal pain, poor appetite and digestive system pain
Note: should not be pressed within two hours after a meal.
