Spring soup to strengthen the spleen and lungs
The temperature is becoming unpredictable and it is always raining during spring. It is the time of the year for outbreak of infectious diseases. Therefore, in addition to nourishing the liver in spring, you need to strengthen the lungs as well. As the lungs master the body’s qi, strengthening the lungs can improve qi in the body and strengthen your immunity. The spleen is the basis of health as a healthy spleen can help achieve a healthy digestive system and properly absorb nutrients from food. In the spring, it is humid and rainy, and dispelling dampness in proper ways can improve the dampness related issues such as fatigue, poor appetite, and edema. It is recommended to drink soup for 2-3 days a week to strengthen the spleen and lungs and dispel dampness to relieve the symptoms and improve immunity.
Tips for soup to strengthen the spleen and dispel dampness:
Appropriately add in ingredients such as Chinese yam, poria, atractylodes rhizome, fox nuts, soya bean.
Lotus root soup with apple and coix seed
Effects: strengthens the spleen and dispel dampness, relieves symptoms such as fatigue, heavy limbs and edema.
Ingredients: 1 lotus root (about 3 segments), 2 apples, 40g rice beans, raw and cooked coix seeds, 1 dried citrus peel, 1 slice of ginger, 2 candied dates
1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Peel lotus root and cut into pieces. Peel and core the apple and cut into pieces.
2. Combine all ingredients with 2500ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 2 hours. Add salt to taste.
