Two treasures to clear summer heat
On hot summer days, exercising or working outdoors can be quite hard. Aside from becoming thirsty, if you experience rise in body temperature, dizziness, headache, blurred vision, tight chest and nausea, difficulty concentrating, shortness of breath, lack of strength in your limbs, and general exhaustion, you may be having a mild heat stroke! Do not rush to gulp down ice water to avoid whole-body vasoconstriction. It will hinder heat dissipation. You should sit down or lie down and raise your feet and slowly hydrate. If you know in advance that you will have activity under the sun, you can prepare a drink that is sweet and cold in nature to promote fluid production and relieve thirst which is more effective to clear heat than regular water. We are introducing two treasures to clear summer heat- young coconut and watermelon. Young coconut is the young version of coconut. It is more juicy and smooth in texture. It can clear summer heat, promote fluid production, relieve thirst, strengthen heart and promote diuresis.
Watermelon pulp indeed can promote fluid production and clear summer heat. Actually, the leftover watermelon skin is also a treasure. Chinese medicine called the white part of watermelon skin “green clothes of watermelon”. It is cold in nature. It can clear heat, detoxify, clear summer heat, promote fluid production, relieve thirst and lower blood pressure. It can be drank after boiling or eaten as a cold side dish.
Mung bean tea with watermelon and winter melon
Effects: Clears heat, clears summer heat, promotes diuresis, prevents heat stroke and relieves discomfort after sun exposure
Ingredients: 300g white part of watermelon, 600g winter melon with skin, 20g mung beans, appropriate amounts of rock sugar
1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Cut white part of watermelon into pieces. Seed winter melon, keep melon skin and cut into pieces.
2. Combine all ingredients with 2000ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Add rock sugar to taste.
Note: It is not suitable for those with asthenic spleen and stomach, loose stools, diarrhea, diabetes and ladies to have during menstruation.
