有聽過「黃金牛奶」嗎?是將薑黃粉加入牛奶中的飲品,坊間指這杯牛奶有止痛、消炎、益肝、消脂等效果,功效源自當中的薑黃素。中醫理論認為薑黃性溫,有活血行氣、通經止痛的功效,適合血瘀、氣滯體質人士服用。但每天或過量服用薑黃會令體內熱盛,出現口乾、便秘、喉嚨痛等症狀,尤其熬夜人士容易虛火上升更不宜多吃。由於有行氣活血作用,孕婦、哺乳婦女、經期中的婦女亦不宜食用。

Staying up late and consuming turmeric increase internal heat
Have you heard of “”Golden Milk””? It is a beverage made by adding turmeric powder to milk. It is believed to have pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory, liver-boosting, and fat-burning effects. These benefits are attributed to the presence of curcumin in turmeric.
According to traditional Chinese medicine, turmeric is warm in nature and is effective in invigorating the blood, regulating qi, and relieving menstrual pain. It is suitable for individuals with blood stasis and qi stagnation constitutions.
However, consuming turmeric daily or in excessive amounts can generate excessive internal heat, leading to symptoms such as dry mouth, constipation, and sore throat. This is particularly unsuitable for individuals who stay up late, as they are prone to accumulate asthenic heat in their body.
Due to its ability to invigorate the blood and circulate the qi, turmeric should also be avoided by pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and women during their menstrual period.
