During “Rain Water” solar term, weather will become cool and humid. Remember to bring an umbrella when you leave home, pay attention to the weather and dress appropriately. The humidity during the rainy season is exogenous and would cause discomfort to the body.

Dampness in the body can cause heavy-headedness and chest tightness, and it would also cause oily skin and even eczema symptoms. Therefore, we should drink rice water made with red rice, white rice, and coix seeds. Avoid eating raw and cold food to reduce the burden of the spleen and stomach. A healthy spleen and stomach can get rid of the excess fluid from the body, keeping our body young and energetic.

Healthy living during Rain Water Solar Term:
“Dispel dampness and cold. Nourish spleen and protect the stomach.”

Lemongrass: Expels wind to relieve exterior syndrome, promotes the meridian and clears blood stasis.
Ginger: Promote perspiration and dispel cold, warm the body and relieve vomiting.

Fried rice water with lemongrass and ginger
Effects: Warms the stomach and dispels cold, strengthens the spleen and dispels dampness. Relieves damp cold symptoms such as aversion to cold, drowsiness, and likelihood to have diarrhea.
Ingredients: 1 lemongrass, 2 slices lemon, 2 slices ginger, 2 tablespoons fried rice or 1 pack of fried rice water powder, rock sugar to taste
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Slightly pound the lemongrass with the back of a knife and cut into sections. Add 1000ml hot water into a thermos. Add all the ingredients and steep for 5 minutes. Add rock sugar to taste. The tea can be poured into thermos and re-browed until flavour weakens.
