Chinese New Year is five days away! A lot of people are busy preparing different new year food and the first to come to mind is radish cakes and taro cakes.
Let’s take a look at their main ingredients- taro and radish. Taro is mild in nature, can strengthen the spleen and stomach and reduce phlegm. It is suitable for those with lymphatic swelling and eccyclomastoma. Those with asthenic spleen and stomach or chronic constipation can also have taro.
Radish is cool nature, can alleviate indigestion, reduce phlegm, relieve cough and promote diuresis. Suitable for those with indigestion and stomach discomfort.
Tips to make your cakes healthier:
When you are making them increase the portion of radish and taro to flour and use mushrooms, dried shrimp and dried scallops instead of cured meat. Steaming is healthier than pan frying to reduce oil.
