【育兒常識】嬰兒腹瀉不用慌

BB出牙引致腹瀉？
豬年媽媽：「我囝囝5個月大開始四圍找東西咬，這兩天便便次數增多，變成黃色帶粒粒，長輩說這是『吽牙屎』，BB出牙會這樣嗎？」

CheckCheckCin：坊間流傳嬰兒準備出牙會有腹瀉情況，老一輩稱之為「吽牙屎/牙仔屎」，然而中醫並沒有這種說法，導致嬰兒腹瀉的原因多為風寒、濕熱、傷食或脾虛。嬰兒大約在四至六個月大期間長出第一隻牙，這段時期的嬰兒抓到甚麼東西都往嘴裡塞，難免會把細菌吃進肚裡去，亦有可能因此引致腹瀉。
至於嬰兒大便的顏色，黃色至綠色都屬於正常，如果呈灰白色、紅色或黑色就代表身體出現問題，要盡快就醫。而大便中的顆粒，多數是因為寶寶消化系統未成熟或消化不良，未能完全消化的凝乳塊，不用過份擔心。
如果嬰兒腹瀉情況輕微，可如常餵哺母乳，而吃奶粉的話就把奶粉比例調得淡一點，或者暫時轉飲無乳糖奶粉或豆奶粉，確保吸收足夠水份，觀察一兩天看看情況有沒有改善，因為只要把病邪排清就可以了。如果腹瀉情況持續，建議就醫檢查。

Does teething cause diarrhea for babies?
“My baby has been putting everything in his mouth since 5 months old to bite. He is passing stool more often last two days and the dyool is yellow and lumpy. Older generations say baby teething causes diarrhea. It is true?”

CheckCheckCin: Some say diarrhea may occur in babies who are teething. However, Chinese medicine does not this concept. The causes of infant diarrhea are mostly due to cold-wind, damp heat, poor eating habits or weak spleen. Babies develop their first teeth at about 4 to 6 months of age. During this period, babies put everything into their mouths. It is inevitable that they will eat bacteria and may cause diarrhea.
As for the colour of the baby’s stool, it is normal to be yellow or green. If it is grayish white, red, or black, it means that there is a problem in the body, and you should seek medical treatment as soon as possible. And lumpy stool occurs because the baby’s digestive system is immature, and the breastmilk is not completely digested, so do not worry too much.
If the baby’s diarrhea is mild, you can breastfeed as usual. For babies who are still drinking formula, you can dilute the milk more, or try lactose free or soy based formula to see if the condition improves. Be sure to keep your babies hydrated with water and you can try observing for 1 to 2 days. If diarrhea persists, it is recommended to seek medical attention.
