Asparagus can aid fat burn and prevent aging
Asparagus is unique in appearance when compared to other vegetables. We consume its thick stem; the leaf-like feature on top of the asparagus which in fact is its branch. From Chinese medicine perspective, asparagus is cool in nature, can relieve heat, promote diuresis and burn fat, therefore it is extremely beneficial for individuals who wish to lose weight.
Asparagus is low in carbohydrates and high in fiber; hence it helps with digestion and improves bowel movements. It also lowers blood pressure, contains high Vitamin E, can prevent heart and blood vessel related diseases. In order to retain asparagus’ taste and texture as well as prevent nutrient loss, we should not overcook it.
Asparagus – cool in nature, can relieve heat, improve diuresis, replenish body deficiencies, burn fat, and has anticancer properties. Nevertheless, patients with gout should avoid consuming asparagus because this vegetable is high in purine.
Steamed fish roll with asparagus
Ingredients: 10 asparagus, 2 pieces of fish fillets, chopped green onion, salt, white pepper, cooking wine
Seasoning sauce: 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of oil, 1.5 teaspoons of sugar
1. Rinse asparagus and cut off the ends, or peel if needed. Rinse the fish fillets, marinate with salt, white pepper and cooking wine.
2. Put asparagus on fish fillet and roll, fold line on bottom, steam for 5-7 minutes.
3. Cook the seasoning sauce until boiling, pour on the fish rolls and serve with chopped green onion.
Remarks: you may choose to pour out the excess juice after the fish rolls are steamed.
