Soup to strengthen the spleen and lungs
Drinking soup is a good way to strengthen your health to protect against influenza, and we would suggest adding in ingredients that strengthen the spleen and lungs. Chinese medicine believes those with asthenic spleen and lungs may lack proper nutrients to nourish qi and blood which lowers immunity and allows pathogens to attack the body. Keeping health spleen and lung functions can improve qi health and reduce chances of getting sick. Note that those who are already fighting a flu or influenza should wait until they have fully recovered to drink soup.
Tips to make soup to strengthen the spleen and lungs:
Appropriately add in ingredients such as lotus root, poria, white hyacinth bean, hyacinth bean coat.
Carrot and apple soup with potato and radix pseudostellariae
Effects: Replenish the spleen and nourish stomach, strengthen lung qi, and improve overall health and immunity.
Ingredients: 1 carrot, 1 apple, 2 potatoes, 1 fresh Chinese yam, 15g radix pseudostellariae, 2 candied dates
1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Core apple and cut into pieces. Peel carrot, potatoes and Chinese yam and cut into pieces.
2. Combine all ingredients with 2500ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1.5 hour. Add salt to taste.
Note: not suitable for those recovering from cold/flu.
