Spring soup to nourish liver and improve vision
Spring belongs to wood within the five elements and so is the liver so liver qi will increase during spring time. Chinese medicine theories states to relieve liver stress during spring and nourish the liver to avoid over active liver qi leading to vicious stagnation. Wolfberries are in season during spring and fall and they can nourish the liver and improve vision. Adding wolf berry leaves to soup can also relieve eye discomfort caused by frequent late nights. It takes short amount of time to prepare, perfect for busy urbanites.
Tips for soup to clear the liver and improve vision:
Appropriately add in ingredients such as wolf berry leaves and cordate telosma
Wolfberry leaves soup with carrot and potato
Effecfs: nourish the liver and kidneys, clear heat and improve vision
Ingredients: 1 carrot, 2 potatoes, 300g wolfberry leaves (about half catty), 20g wolf berries
1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Remove wolfberry leaves from stem. Peel carrot and potatoes and cut into small pieces.
2. Combine all ingredients except wolfberry leaves in a pot with 2000ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Add in wolf berry leaves and cook for 15 minutes. Add salt to taste.
