Chinese medicine always says not to eat cold and raw foods, but when it’s as hot as it’s been, is it really true that I can’t have anything cold?
From a Chinese medicine perspective, it’s true people should generally avoid cold and raw foods. We discussed what over consuming cold and raw foods can do to our body. However, it’s really been hot lately and having the occasional refreshing cold foods is still acceptable. What you should try hard to avoid are iced drinks and ice-cream. You don’t have to always eat hot foods too. Try having room temperature or warm drinks or use ice to cool down a drink then remove the ice are better methods too. You will do less damage to your body and can get relief from the summer heat without causing your spleen and stomach to become damp and hot so you would avoid losing your appetite and experiencing abdominal bloating.
