【竹蔗 vs 蔗糖 】

你有吃竹蔗嗎?其實除了當水果吃,竹蔗的用途甚為廣泛,竹蔗性寒,有清熱潤燥、生津解渴功效,涼茶舖常見的竹蔗茅根水就有助清熱。而我們每天吃到的糖,其實亦是由竹蔗提煉而成,中醫角度認為糖有潤肺生津、補脾益氣的作用,尤其紅/黑糖,屬性變成偏溫,保留較多甘蔗元素和礦物質,具健脾暖胃、散寒活血的功效。體質虛寒、手腳冰冷、脾胃虛寒人士簡單用薑及紅糖煮杯紅糖薑茶飲用,都有驅寒暖胃作用。

竹蔗茅根紅蘿蔔水
功效:清熱健脾祛濕,適合身體有偏熱症狀如口臭、頭瘡、喉嚨痛、出痱滋等。
材料:紅蘿蔔2根、竹蔗4節、茅根300克、生薏米30克、冰糖適量
做法:所有材料洗淨備用。紅蘿蔔、竹蔗去皮切成細件,茅根剪短。將所有材料加入約1500毫升水,武火煮至水滾,改文火煮約40分鐘,加入適量冰糖即可。

紅糖薑茶
功效:驅寒暖胃,適合體質虛寒、手腳冰冷、脾胃虛寒人士。
材料:薑片10片、紅糖適量
做法:將約800毫升水煮滾,加入薑片,調中火煮約30分鐘,加入紅糖拌至溶化即可。

Bamboo Cane vs Sucrose

Have you eaten bamboo cane? Besides eating it as a fruit, we can use it for many purposes. Bamboo cane is cold in nature and can clear the heat, moisten the body, induce salivation, and quench thirst. The bamboo cane and cogongrass root drink we often see in herbal tea shops can help dissipate heat from the body.

The sugar we consume daily is made from bamboo cane. From the perspective of Chinese Medicine, sugar can moisten the lungs, induce salivation, nourish the spleen, and strengthen the qi. Brown sugar, which is warmer in nature, contains more natural elements and minerals from the bamboo cane, and it can strengthen the spleen, warm the stomach, dissipate cold, and invigorate the blood.

Individuals with a cold body and cold limbs and those with a weak and cold stomach and spleen can make themselves a cup of brown sugar ginger tea with ginger and brown sugar to dispel the cold in their body and warm the stomach.

Sugar cane water with carrot and cogongrass root
Effects: clears heat, dispels dampness and strengthens the spleen. Suitable for those with heat-related symptoms such as odorous breath, pimple on the scalp, sore throat, and canker sores.
Ingredients: 2 carrots, 4 sugar canes, 300g cogongrass root, 30g coix seed, rock sugar to taste
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Peel sugar cane and carrot and cut into pieces. Cut cogongrass root into short pieces. Combine all ingredients into approximately 1500ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 40 mins. Add rock sugar to taste.

Ginger tea with brown sugar
Effects: dispels cold and warms the stomach. Suitable for those with a cold body constitution, with cold limbs, cold and weak stomach and spleen.
Ingredients: 10 slices ginger, brown sugar to taste
Preparation: Boil about 800ml water then add ginger slices. Turn to medium heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Add brown sugar to taste until they melt.
