Polygonatum odoratum vs Polygonatum root
What’s the difference?
They both have healing effects of nourishing yin, moistening dryness, promoting fluid production and relieving thirst. They are suitable for those with yin deficient body constitution and those with heat-related symptoms caused by sleeping late like canker sores, dry skin. They are not suitable for those prone to stomach discomfort and those with qi stagnation and phlegm/dampness body constitutions.
Polygonatum root has the added benefits of replenishing qi, strengthening the spleen, and nourishing the kidneys. It is better in taste but also more expensive.
