星期五湯水-淮山蓮子紅豆湯
都市女性多因為日常生活習慣而不知不覺將自己煉成血虛體質。中醫理論認為「久視傷血」,需要長時間集中精神閱讀或注視電話及電腦螢幕的人士更要留意。加上很多人誤以為身體稍微虛弱時,只要多做運動就會益氣,但其實過量運動,如兩三小時連續做時興的高溫瑜珈、腳踏車、馬拉松等流汗消耗體力的運動,反而會過度耗損血液津液,長期演變成血虛體質。這些女性經常手腳冰冷,而且面色蒼白,讓人感覺特別冷冰冰,其實這都可能是因為她們是血虛,嚴重的更可能出現睡眠不安寧、頭暈、心悸及健忘的情況。
血虛的女性更應少吃生冷,適量服用養心脾的食材如紅豆、紅棗、菠菜、何首烏、龍眼乾等都是養血的好食材。另外,亦可試煮這個淮山蓮子紅豆湯,不但可養心更可健脾,舒緩睡眠不安寧及心悸等血虛症狀。
淮山蓮子紅豆湯
材料:新鮮淮山1根、新鮮棕櫚果4﹣6塊、蓮子120克(約3兩)、紅豆30克、蜜棗2枚
做法:將材料洗淨。淮山去皮切塊,棕櫚果切走硬皮備用。鍋內加入2000毫升水,加入所有材料,武火煮至水滾,改文火煮1小時,加入適量鹽調味即可。
功效:養心健脾。舒緩睡眠不安寧、時有心悸、腹瀉等症狀。
Friday Soup Series- Red bean soup with Chinese yam and lotus seed
A lot of city ladies turn their bodies into asthenic blood type without knowing just from lifestyle and habits. Chinese medicine states that ‘viewing for a long time can hurt blood’, for those who need to concentrate on reading or looking at monitors (phone or computer) should be careful. Furthermore, a lot of people think when their bodies feel weakened, exercising more is the way to nourish qi. The reality is when the body is overworked, through say 2-3 hours of consecutive exercises that causes excessive sweating and exhaustion of body, such as hot yoga, spinning, or marathon, it can tax on blood and fluid. Overtime, this leads to asthenic blood body constitution. These ladies usually have cold hands and feet, pale white complexion, giving off an extra cold feeling. This is all due to asthenic blood constitution, and in more serious cases, they will experience poor sleep quality, dizziness, heart palpitations, and forgetfulness.
Ladies with asthenic blood body constitution should avoid raw and cold foods, appropriately consume heart and spleen nourishing foods such as red beans, red dates, spinach, polygonum multiflorum and dried longan. You can also try to make this soup, it can nourish the heart and strengthen the spleen, and alleviate symptoms of asthenic blood such as poor sleep quality and heart palpitations.
Red bean soup with Chinese yam and lotus seed
Ingredients: 1 fresh Chinese yam, 4-6 fresh palm fruit, 120g lotus seeds (about 3 catty), 30g red beans, 2 candied dates
Preparation method: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Peel Chinese yam and cut into pieces. Remove hard skin of coquille nuts. Combine ingredients with 2000ml of water in a pot, and place over high heat until the water boils. Switch to low heat and simmer for 1 additional hour. Add salt to taste.
Effects: Nourishes the heart and strengthens the spleen. Alleviates symptoms of poor sleep, occasional heart palpitations, and diarrhea.
