2. 鍋內加入約2500毫升水及海帶水,放入全部材料,以武火煮至水滾,調文火煮約1小時,最後下鹽調味即可,喝湯吃芋絲更飽肚!

Winter soup to lose fat and relieve edema
Most of the things you eat during Chinese new year are fatty and oily, saucy and salty, which can be quite fattening. Consuming too much salt can lead to edema. When there is obvious edema, the skin will sink when pressed. You may experience eyelids and limbs swelling. For example, you might suddenly feel that the ring is too small, shoes seem tight, and you have sock marks on your legs. The accompanying symptoms include heavy headedness, loss of sense of taste, chest tightness, and low urine volume. From Chinese medicine perspective, people with weak spleen qi are particularly prone to edema because the dampness cannot be dispelled normally. If the situation is serious, you should consult with a registered Chinese medicine practitioner. If the symptoms are mild, you can make a soup to strengthen spleen and dispel dampness.

Tips for soup to strengthen spleen and dispel dampness:
Appropriately add in ingredients such as coix seed, Chinese yam, rice bean, soya bean, poria, atractylodes rhizome.

Winter melon soup with lotus leaf and kelp
Effects: strengthens spleen and dispels dampness, relieves symptoms such as frequent diarrhea, lower limbs swelling, eyelids swelling due to asthenic weak stomach.
Ingredients: 600g winter melon (with peel), ½ fresh lotus leaf (or 20g dried lotus leaf), half of a cabbage, 80g kelp, 10g hyacinth bean coat, 1 dried citrus peel, 30g peanut, 2 candied dates, 2 slices of ginger, 1 pack Konnyaku noodle
1. Rinse all dried ingredients, cut winter melon into pieces. Cut kelp into pieces and soak for 20 minutes and remove from water. Keep the kelp water for use.
2. Combine all ingredients with 2500ml of water and kelp water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1 hour. Add salt to taste. Eating Konnyaku noodles can be more filling!
