坐月健脾湯水 -
1. 節瓜去皮切塊,粟米連鬚去衣切段;其他材料沖洗乾淨備用。
2. 鍋中加入約2500毫升水,放入全部材料,武火煮至水滾,調至文火煮2小時,然後下鹽調味即可。

Confinement Soup to strengthen the spleen
Chinese people always equate confinement diet to tonic replenishment and feel like postpartum women should have lots of replenishing soups to have a good confinement month. From Chinese medicine perspective, confinement month foods should be prepared based on individual body constitution to properly recover. Before trying to replenish the body, it is important to first strengthen the spleen. You need a healthy spleen to absorb nutrients from foods, improve breastmilk production and help the body recover.

Here’s a soup to strengthen then spleen and stomach. Most of the ingredients are mild such as Chinese yam, poria, lotus seeds, fox nuts soy beans. It is suitable for all types of body constitution and suitable for the entire family.

Confinement soup to strengthen the spleen- Fig soup with hairy gourd and corn

Ingredients: 2 hairy gourds, 2 ears of corn with silk, 20g lotus seeds, 20g fox nuts, 40g soy beans, 4 dried scallops, 3 figs

1. Peel hairy gourds and cut into pieces. Keep silk on corn and cut into pieces. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly.
2. Combine all ingredients with 2500ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 2 hours. Add salt to taste.
Effects: Strengthen the spleen, improve qi circulation and promote diuresis. Alleviate symptoms of heavy body and limbs, body swelling and poor appetite.
