四招遠離慢性胃痛
偶然出現的胃痛可能是飲食積滯所致,但如果長期受胃痛不適纏繞呢?從中醫角度來看,慢性胃痛患者以脾胃虛寒及胃陰不足兩類最常見,脾胃虛寒的人胃痛發作時隱隱作痛,伴隨症狀為容易疲倦、怕冷、肚餓時比較痛、進食生冷食物後容易胃痛甚至腹瀉,需要溫養脾胃,可以飲用蘋果肉桂茶健胃祛寒;而胃陰不足的人胃痛時亦屬隱隱作痛,伴隨症狀為口咽乾燥、手足心熱、大便乾結甚至便秘,需要和胃養陰,可以飲用石斛麥冬茶養陰潤燥。
在飲食生活上,慢性胃痛患者有四點要多加注意:一、進食要定時定量,進食速度不宜過急,宜吃至七分飽。二、飲食清淡,避免進食刺激性食物,例如過於油膩、辛辣的食物,遠離生冷食物及凍飲。三、胃陰不足者避免熬夜,以免加速陰液的消耗。四、每日喝一杯以白米、紅米及薏米煲成的米水,都是健脾養胃的好方法。

蘋果肉桂茶
功效:健胃祛寒,紓緩因脾胃虛寒引致的胃痛、胃脹、噯氣等症狀。
材料:蘋果1個、肉桂3克、蜂蜜適量
做法:蘋果去皮去芯切粒,鍋內加入約500毫升水、蘋果及肉桂,武文煮滾後調文火煮10分鐘,稍微放涼後加入蜂蜜調味,把茶連渣倒進保溫瓶即可。此茶能反覆沖泡至味淡,建議一星期飲用2-3天,連續兩星期為一個療程。
注意:陰虛火旺、身體有偏熱症狀人士不宜飲用。

石斛麥冬茶
功效:養陰潤燥,紓緩因胃陰不足引致的胃痛、口咽乾燥等症狀。
材料:石斛8克、麥冬6克、冰糖適量
做法:洗淨石斛和麥冬,加入900毫升水,武文煮滾後調文火煮40分鐘,最後加入冰糖調味,把茶連渣倒進保溫瓶即可。此茶能反覆沖泡至味淡,建議一星期飲用2-3天,連續兩星期為一個療程。

4 ways to relieve stomach pain
The occasional stomach pain may be caused by indigestion. But how about the chronic stomach pains? From Chinese medicine perspective, asthenic weak stomach and spleen and stomach yin deficiency are two common causes of chronic stomach pain. People with asthenic and weak stomachs have nagging stomach pain, often accompanied by fatigue, aversion to cold, additional painwhen hungry, stomach pain and diarrhea after eating cold/raw food. They should warm the stomach by having cinnamon tea with apple to strengthen the stomach and dispel cold. Those with stomach yin deficiency also have nagging stomach pain, often accompanied by dry mouth and throat, hot palms and feet, dry stool or even constipation. They should nourish the stomach and yin by having dendrobium tea with radix ophiopogonis to relieve dryness.
In terms of diet, patients with chronic stomach pain have four points to note: First, have regular meals, try not to eat too quickly, and eat until you’re 70% full. 2. Eat a light diet and avoid eating irritating foods that are too greasy and spicy, and stay away from cold/raw foods and drinks. Third, those with stomach yin deficiency should avoid staying up late to decrease the consumption of yin. 4. Drink a cup of rice water made from white rice, red rice and coix seed daily to strengthen the spleen and stomach.

Cinnamon tea with apple
Effects: strengthens stomach and dispels cold, relieves stomach pain, abdominal bloating and burping due to asthenic and weak stomach and spleen
Ingredients: 1 apple, 3g cinnamon, appropriate amounts of honey
Preparation: Rinse, peel and core the apple and cut into pieces. Combine the apple and cinnamon with 500ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Let cool and add in honey. Pour all contents into a thermos and tea can be re-brewed until flavor weakens. For best results, drink consecutively for 2-3 days for two weeks.
Note: Not suitable for those with yin deficiency with excess fire and heat-related symptoms.

Dendrobium tea with radix ophiopogonis 
Effects: nourishes yin and relieves dryness, relieves stomach pain and dry mouth and throat due to stomach yin deficiency
Ingredients: 8g dendrobium, 6g radix ophiopogonis, appropriate amounts of rock sugar
Preparation: Rinse dendrobium and radix ophiopogonis and combine with 900ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 40 minutes. Add rock sugar to taste. Pour all contents into a thermos and tea can be re-brewed until flavor weakens. For best results, drink consecutively for 2-3 days for two weeks.
