During this period, we should focus on a diet that can strengthen the spleen and dispel dampness from the body. We should consume an appropriate amount of coix seed, adzuki bean, hyacinth bean, Poria cocos, Chinese yam, and sweet potato, as they could strengthen the spleen and stomach, as well as well dispelling dampness from the body. Cut down on raw, cold, heavily flavored, fried, and oily food, and cultivate the habit of drinking a cup of rice water a day.

Healthy living during Grain Rain Solar Term:
“Strengthen the spleen and stomach, promote urination and phlegm”

Raw Coix Seeds: clear heat, nourish the spleen, and dispel dampness in body
Cooked Coix Seeds: nourish the spleen
Lemon: stimulates appetite and relieves stagnancy, promotes fluid production and quenches thirst

Coix seeds water with lemon
Effects: strengthens the spleen and dispels dampness. Relieves tired limbs, poor appetite and abdominal bloating.
Ingredients: 30g raw coix seeds, 20g cooked coix seeds, 3-4 lemon slices, rock sugar to taste
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Combine all ingredients with 800ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 45 minutes. Add the rock sugar and cook until melted. Turn off the heat and add the lemon slices.
Note: not suitable for pregnant ladies.
