When you can’t seem to wake up, it can be related to sleeping poorly. For busy working people, long hours without adequate rest and high pressure can be a main cause of poor sleep. No matter how tired your body is, your brain is still working so it can be hard to sleep well or you may even wake up in the middle of the night. It can be hard to wake up as a result. During the spring time, dampness can make people extra tired so it’s more important to have proper sleep to let your body recover properly. Try this soup to relieve your stress.

American ginseng soup with apples and carrot
Ingredient: 2 apples, 1 carrot, 20g lotus seed, 20g lily bulbs, 10g American ginseng, 3 figs
Preparation: rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Peel and core apples, peel and cut carrot into pieces. Set aside American ginseng and combine rest of ingredients with 2000ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1 hour. Add in American ginseng and cook for additional 10 minutes. Add salt to taste.
Effects: calms the mind. Alleviates late night related dry mouth, dry skin, poor sleep and irritability.
